This is an iconic building and when my mother visited New York in the seventies, this was one of the first buildings she saw. When I was little she’d tell me about the enormous buildings here and how different it felt compared to our little city Amsterdam. After hearing her stories, I always wanted to visit the USA and I’m really glad to be able to travel around here.

Demy anticipating a visit to the Empire State Building

Today we planned a trip to the Empire State Building, a place that’s really worth visiting, the view you get on top is unmatched.

In an airplane you also see the city from above, but the sensation from standing still and see the city from above is very different. It did feel really cold up there, but they had heaters installed near the windows that helped a lot.

A visitor

Before going up to the roof there’s a short walk through the history of the building, how it was made and the problems they faced when building.

After visiting we just walked around and went back home to order Chinese food, something I didn’t take a photo of, but Chinese food is always fun to get in New York!
